Systems Officer About the job Systems Officer 6-month fixed term contract Based in Burton On Trent We are looking for a Systems Officer to join our friendly and dynamic team here at the Waterstones Book Hub in Burton On Trent. As a Systems Officer, youll play a key role in maintaining the smooth flow of stock from suppliers through the hub and into our book shops while providing hands-on support across both operational processes and system functionality. This is a busy and varied role where we will provide full training, we are looking for someone with enthusiasm and the desire to learn. You will be supporting the team with a variety of tasks that include testing system fixes or configuration changes, resolving operational issues, and ensuring seamless system performance. This role is for a 6-month fixed term contract, with the potential for this to transition into a permanent position. Please note we work on a shift pattern which includes: MondayFriday 06:00-14:00 10:0018:00 14:3022:30 This is on a three-week rota and then every fourth week you would work Sunday to Thursday. What you will be doing Full training will be provided on the key responsibilities. Supporting receipt processes and resolving system-related issues. Planning and managing workloads to ensure timely dispatch. Troubleshooting stock discrepancies and equipment faults. Ensuring accurate and timely store deliveries. Conducting software testing, writing test cases, and analysing data. WMS account maintenance. Hardware and Software Support Incident Management Being the point of escalation for the site, raising sales force tickets with third party system support and cascading information to the wider team. What we need from you Technical and business understanding of a Warehouse Management System, ideally Blue Yonder. Enthusiasm and the desire to learn and understand processes and procedures. Experience with the analysis and reporting of service and incident data. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Competent in using Microsoft Office Products. Ability to effectively communicate service issues to non-specialists in an engaging and persuasive manner. Person Profile Strong organisational and planning skills. Excellent problem-solving skills and a can-do approach. Ability to work under pressure with several projects running alongside each other to deliver to set timescales. Patient approach and the ability to understand the bigger picture. Excellent communication and influencing skills. Can work cross-functionally with other areas of the business. Able to work with minimal direct supervision, able to take on appropriate levels of responsibility and manage tasks through to successful completion. Able to look at bigger picture, identifying solutions and improvements for processes before they become problematic.
