Job Title: Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Midwife
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our maternity service. You will be working as part of the Diabetes in Pregnancy multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide high-quality, safe midwifery care to women and their families whose pregnancy is complicated by Diabetes.
2. Develop a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills in the care of women with Diabetes in pregnancy.
3. Manage, develop, and lead care for pregnant women and new mothers with additional needs.
4. Provide direct client care and support women with Diabetes in partnership with the Diabetes Specialist Lead Midwife and the multidisciplinary team.
5. Work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate care based on individual needs.
6. Assist the Diabetes Specialist Lead Midwife to ensure high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained.
7. Promote quality improvement methods among frontline staff to improve patient care.
8. Act as a resource of Diabetes specialist knowledge to team members.

Qualifications
* Midwifery Degree
* NMC Registered Midwife
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willingness to undertake relevant courses/training, including further study in Diabetes in pregnancy
* Non-medical prescribing course
Experience
* Band 6 midwife experience
* Experience working with pregnant or newly delivered women with diabetes
* Experience in care assessment, planning, and evaluation
* Basic knowledge of Diabetes in pregnancy
* Awareness of national and local drivers regarding diabetes in pregnancy
* Experience within a Diabetes MDT
* Experience in data collection, policy writing, and service audit
* Knowledge of local services for women with diabetes during pregnancy
