Nursery and Junior School Casual Assistants and Room Leaders

As a Casual Nursery & Junior School Assistant or Room Leader, you will play a crucial role in the daily life of our junior school and nursery. We are currently seeking dedicated and flexible Casual Nursery & Junior School Assistants or Room Leaders to join our team, to cover absence, annual leave and support at peak times. This role primarily involves working during term-time, with occasional requirements during school holidays to support our all-year round nursery.
Working closely with our dedicated staff, you will share insights to ensure every child’s progress is monitored and supported. Effective communication with parents and carers will help build strong relationships and a cohesive approach to each child’s development.
You will engage with children through a variety of activities that enhance their social and educational development. This includes setting up and clearing away materials and equipment for lessons and activities. You will help children develop independence and confidence. Beyond the classroom, you will supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and extra-curricular activities, and accompany children on school trips. Flexibility is key, as you may also assist with administrative tasks, meal supervision, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
You will have strong verbal and written communication skills, proven experience of handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy, and the confidence to challenge compliance with HR policies at all levels. Excellent IT skills are required, particularly in using SIMS and Microsoft/Google applications. Keeping calm under pressure and being able to work to tight deadlines are also key so organisational skills and high attention to detail are critical.
Working patterns can vary with shifts starting at 07:30 or finishing at 18:00 - please share your availability when submitting your application.

1. Casual Nursery & Junior School Assistant £13.56 p/h (£15.89 p/h inc holiday & bank holiday pay)
2. Casual Nursery Assistant £13.94 p/h (£16.32 p/h inc holiday & bank holiday pay)
3. Casual Nursery Room Leader £14.51 p/h (£17.00 p/h inc holiday & bank holiday pay)
