Overview
The Student Welfare Officer provides sensitive and appropriate support as the first point of contact for students with non-academic concerns, offering emotional and social support as needed and guiding students to appropriate services.
Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for students with non-academic concerns, providing sensitive and appropriate support.
* Provide emotional and social support to students who may be experiencing personal challenges.
* Act as the first point of contact for students with non-academic concerns, providing initial support and guidance.
* Develop a strong understanding of the specialist support services available within the college and signpost students to these services as appropriate.
* Assist with the planning, organisation, and delivery of social activities and events to enhance the student experience.
* Monitor student attendance and ensure accurate and thorough records are maintained.
* Communicate the importance of maintaining required attendance levels and arrange meetings with students at risk of falling below expectations.
* Record and maintain minutes of meetings, ensuring compliance with college policies and procedures.
* Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and implement their instructions effectively.
Essential Criteria
* The Student Welfare Officer will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing and ensuring they are able to thrive during their time at college.
* The successful candidate will be expected to be a UK Graduate/ Master having understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in a student support environment. Developed awareness of barriers to learning, including social and emotional challenges faced by learners.
