We have an excellent opportunity for Warehouse Operative to join our team based in Newcastle.

Family owned and the UK's largest stockist of Non-Ferrous Metals with over 59 years' experience of supplying high quality products to engineering companies both globally and all over the UK.
The Role
As a Warehouse Operative you will report to the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Manager. You will be responsible for the picking and cutting of metal bars/sheets and plates for customer orders within health and safety guidelines.
Your duties will include:
* Working efficiently and safely in the operation of machinery to lift, load and cut material via a plate or band saws.
* To store, pick and cut metal materials in the warehouse through good housekeeping and quality control procedures.
* To work as part of a team with warehouse operatives to load and unload materials in timely fashion and load company vehicles to driver's manifest provided.
* To show courtesy and be helpful to customers/suppliers when they are collecting or returning materials to warehouse
* Maintain a safe workplace without risk to health by proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and to implement measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the management
The Person
As a Warehouse Operative, you will need to have:
* Ability to work to deadlines on own and show initiative to solve problems when delivering materials
* Great Communication skills to liaise with all types of customers
* An ability to understand and learn different machinery to enable cutting, lifting and storage of materials when not driving in support of warehouse team
* Excellent attention to detail enabling management of load and checking of manifest on a daily basis
* Basic health and safety knowledge
* A forklift licence/training would be an advantage
Ideal Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy and Literacy to GCSE or national standard
* Materials handling experience
* Proficiency in using forklifts
* Familiarity with warehouse management systems
* Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks
* Knowledge of stocking and picking & packing procedures
* Experience in shipping & receiving operations
* Mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance
Hours & Rewards
As a Warehouse Operative you will work Mon -Thur 08:00-17:30 and Fri 08:00-16:00
* Circa £28,000 per annum depending on hours worked
* 4%/4% Matched Contributory pension scheme
