We are currently recruiting for amitted and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a weing secondary school in Ormskirk from September. This ongoing temporary role offers the opportunity to work across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students with a range of learning difficulties and some additional SEND needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Your new role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students both on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings. You will work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning materials, reinforce key concepts, and encourage student engagement. Your role will also involve monitoring progress, promoting independence, and helping to manage behaviour in a positive and constructive way. You’ll be expected to contribute to the wider schoolmunity and support the development of inclusive practices across the classroom.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone with experience supporting students with learning difficulties and SEND, ideally within a secondary school setting. You should have a patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff alike. A good understanding of the challenges faced by young people with additional needs is essential, along with strongmunication and teamwork skills. A relevant qualification in education or support work is desirable but not essential. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role, and support can be provided to obtain one if necessary.
