We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatient Breast Clinic team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in a sensitive and supportive environment.
As a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant in the Outpatient Breast Clinic, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients who have a new diagnosis or are receiving ongoing treatment for breast cancer.
You will be an essential part of a team of professionals who will review patients in the outpatient setting. You will be required to support patients undergoing breast assessments, diagnostics, and treatments. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and consultants, to assist with clinical procedures, provide emotional support to patients and families and ensure the smooth running of the clinic environment.
You will be responsible for preparing clinic rooms, chaperoning patients during sensitive examinations, maintaining infection control standards, and performing basic administrative tasks. This role requires empathy, discretion, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
What your day might look like:
1. Patient Support: Assist patients attending breast clinic appointments, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported.
2. Clinical Assistance: Support registered nurses and clinicians during procedures such as breast examinations, biopsies, and imaging.
3. Chaperoning: Act as a chaperone during sensitive procedures.
4. Administrative Duties: Help with booking appointments, managing patient records, and preparing clinic rooms.
5. Infection Control: Maintain cleanliness and adhere to infection prevention protocols.
6. Stock Management: Monitor and replenish clinical supplies.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
7. Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills in line with Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 or above
Desirable criteria
8. GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4 - 9 OR Functional skills level 2 numeracy and Functional Skills level 2 literacy skills
9. Level 2 QCF diploma (Qualification Credit Framework) in healthcare / NVQ level 2
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
10. Previous experience of dealing with the public
11. Be able to demonstrate understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
12. Previous experience working in a care environment
