Vertical Recruitment are working closely with an award-winning global environmental and engineering consultancy. As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to strengthen their Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Birmingham office.
Our client delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors including residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more. They have an exciting pipeline of work over the next couple of years including a major student accommodation development in Birmingham, several school projects, and rail related projects.
What you’ll be doing:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to progress their career as a Senior Mechanical Engineer within a well-established and highly regarded team, offering exposure across a wide range of sectors and projects.
Duties Include:
* Support the delivery of multiple projects across various sectors
* Work closely with senior engineers and sector leads, including the Education Lead
* Take responsibility for key elements of project delivery from concept design through to RIBA Stage 3
* Assist in managing projects through later design stages and into construction
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, BIM technicians, and energy modellers
* Contribute to the development of design and modelling processes in line with project and client requirements
* Support coordination with architects and external consultants
To be successful in this role you will most likely be experienced in the following:
* Client engagement and participation in design meetings
* Supporting delivery across multiple projects simultaneously
* Mechanical building services design within sectors such as education, residential, or commercial
Additionally, you will:
* Support architects and energy modellers in delivering modelling requirements, including overheating, daylight, and operational energy considerations
* Liaise with BIM teams to ensure deliverables meet programme and project requirements
* Contribute to design reviews and help develop practical, efficient engineering solutions
* Assist in challenging and refining designs to meet client and project briefs
