We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Operations Manager to join the Water Production - Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and help us provide the best service to our customers.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Location: across your area in Yorkshire.
Responsibilities
* Lead the team to deliver excellent performance by setting clear and effective expectations linked to business targets.
* Work as part of the Water Production management team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how individual performance links into wider department objectives.
* Demonstrate exemplary Health, Safety & Wellbeing, including management of team safety audits, actions, Process Safety, training compliance and adherence to PS G01.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality assurance requirements through planning, monitoring, control, operation and optimisation. Manage strategic risks and keep them updated on the company risk register (4Risk).
* Ensure proactive and reactive activity on the water production asset base is completed in line with Above Ground Maintenance (AGM) principles and all HSE policies and procedures.
* Manage incidents to minimise compliance impact, restore service quickly, and develop robust mitigation plans.
* Lead service or asset escalation to maintain a high level of service during extreme weather, major asset failure or environmental impact.
* Investigate incidents and events (safety, water quality, environmental) with learning shared across the business.
* Operate as part of the Water Production Leadership Team supporting the Head of Water Production to deliver strategy and direction.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Support delivery of the department purpose by driving asset performance to meet commitments.
* Participate in a regional standby rota (Bronze level).
What skills and qualifications you will need
* Operational experience in the utilities sector, preferably water.
* Experience managing and leading a remote team with a track record of driving sustainable performance against targets.
* Ability to work in a team and on own initiative.
* Experience supporting and embedding change, with the ability to influence culture and behaviours.
* Experience in Health and Safety management processes and systems.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders.
* Understanding of how a team fits within a business plan and delivering outputs efficiently.
* Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships, demonstrating Yorkshire Water values and behaviours.
* Budget and P&L management experience.
You will also benefit from having
* Experience in a regulatory environment with elements of raw water, water treatment or maintenance operations.
* Experience in water or wastewater sectors or related utilities, process or manufacturing sectors.
* Understanding of water operational structures and processes.
* Understanding of regulatory requirements and measures for WASCs.
* Experience setting up new functions and teams covering process, systems and people.
* Degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering (preferred).
* Understanding of regulatory framework (Ofwat, DWI, EA).
* Understanding of Reservoirs Act (1975) requirements.
