Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical)
Our well‑known manufacturing client based in Telford is looking for a permanent full‑time Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical and automation bias to join their busy and diverse team.
You will be supporting the ongoing maintenance, reliability, and improvement of production equipment within a busy manufacturing environment. This hands‑on role offers genuine variety and technical development. The site operates a broad range of machinery, from traditional relay‑controlled systems to modern PLC‑driven automation, giving you exposure to a wide range of technologies while supporting production operations, reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring safe and efficient plant performance.
Responsibilities include carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery and site equipment, responding quickly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and repairing to minimise downtime, performing electrical and mechanical maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, and supporting routine servicing and repair of motors, drives, conveyors, sensors, rollers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
You will maintain machinery reliability to support production targets and operational efficiency, working safely and in line with company maintenance procedures. Your duties will cover fault finding and repair of industrial electrical systems, control panels, motors, inverters, and drives, reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals, carrying out safe isolation and reinstatement of electrical systems in line with current regulations and procedures, and working with PLC‑controlled systems for fault diagnosis, basic modifications and troubleshooting. You will also support the installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automated production equipment.
The mechanical side will involve assisting with general mechanical maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on production machinery and plant equipment, supporting the wider maintenance team with planned and reactive maintenance activities, and providing welding and fabrication support where applicable (desirable but not essential). You will work closely with production teams to resolve equipment‑related issues quickly and effectively, ensuring equipment uptime and performance, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability and safety.
You will maintain a safe and tidy working environment, follow company health & safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work, and record maintenance activities accurately using company systems. You will report recurring faults, equipment concerns and improvement opportunities to the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering Manager and assist in maintaining maintenance schedules and documentation.
