Community Learning Disability Nurse
The closing date is 30 May 2025
An exciting opportunity for a band 5 community nurse has arisen within our East Surrey Community team for adults within Surrey. As a team, we continually strive to develop, and we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join our dynamic multidisciplinary service.
The successful applicant will join an innovative team of nurses providing high-quality health interventions as part of a forward-thinking, diverse multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with nurses, other professional clinicians, and external agencies.
Main duties of the job
We expect you to possess excellent communication skills, enjoy teamwork, and work closely with colleagues from various disciplines while also being able to work independently. You will carry out comprehensive assessments; plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions as part of a holistic approach. You should demonstrate the ability to apply your nursing skills to a wide range of situations, working with adults with learning disabilities in the community. You will manage a caseload across East Surrey, with supervision and support from senior nurses, and work closely with other agencies and the multidisciplinary team. Applicants must be registered on Part 5 or 14 of the NMC Register or be completing training leading to registration.
A key responsibility is promoting health and independence for people with learning disabilities by delivering high-quality nursing assessments, interventions, and consultations within a Positive Behaviour Support framework, both in generic and specialized services. You will also provide supervision and guidance to support workers, all within an accessible, non-stigmatising, local service that contributes to the healthcare of people with learning disabilities in the area.
