The Role
We are looking for an experienced and fully qualified Fire Alarm Engineer to join our growing team. This is a field-based role covering Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire & Wiltshire carrying out installation, servicing, fault-finding, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839. The role also includes participation in the on-call rota (1 week in 4).
Responsibilities
* Install, commission, service, and maintain fire alarm systems to current standards (BS 5839).
* Diagnose and repair system faults and carry out remedial works as required.
* Provide clear and professional reporting, ensuring compliance with company and industry procedures.
* Work closely with customers, providing excellent service and technical advice.
* Support multi-discipline services where possible, including fire extinguisher servicing.
* Act as a mentor for trainee fire alarm engineers, supporting their learning and development.
What We Are Looking For
* Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer (minimum 3 years preferred).
* Strong electrical background with relevant qualifications.
* Good knowledge of BS 5839 and fire alarm system design/maintenance principles.
* BS 5306 fire extinguisher servicing qualification desirable — but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
* A supportive and professional approach, with a willingness to mentor junior colleagues.
