Therole
Fugro'sSystems Department based at our office in Wallingford are seekingan Electronics/Instrument Engineer to join the team. The teamspecialise in monitoring, measuring, and providing advice onrenewables and oil and gas infrastructure projects in Europe andAfrica.
As anElectronics/Instrument Engineer, you will need to have afundamental understanding of computer architecture operatingsystems and networking principles. A knowledge of electronic andelectrical principles is also essential as well as a good knowledgeof oceanography. The successful candidate, after training, will beexpected to take a lead on site visits, with responsibility forplanning operations as well as health and safety where you willalso act as a liaison.
Using the latestoceanographic equipment, on industry leading projects, you will getto work in a hands-on environment, where the ability to think onyour feet and adapt to changing project needs are integral.Although you will be required to have an equipment and operationsfocus, project management opportunities will be available if thiswere an area you would like to pursue.
Knowledge of documentation structures andapproval engineering process would bebeneficial.
The role willrequire frequent ad hoc travel and working offshore, typicallylasting between 5 -10 days a month.
Who we're lookingfor:
Essential
* Formalelectrical/electronic qualifications,
* GoodEnglish language skills, verbal andwritten.
* Excellent computer literacy, includingworking experience of the Microsoft Officesuite.
* Excellent attention to detail, qualityand safety.
* Ability to work offshore forperiods of up to 14 days, but more typically 1-7days.
* Practically minded and enjoy physical andmental challenges.
* You are looking for theopportunity to use your oceanographic and engineering knowledge ina varied and interesting role.
* You are flexibleto undertake site work at shortnotice.
Desirable
* A HNC orhigher in Engineering, Oceanography or closely relatedsubject
* COMPEXTrained
* Knowledge of intrinsically safecircuits
* Ability to plan and superviseoceanographic survey operations including managing personnel andresources.
* Able to communicate effectively(both verbal and written) with offshore, onshore and Clientpersonnel.
* Offshoreexperience.
* Experience working on small workboats.
* BOSIET or GWO marinetraining.
* Experience in oil and gas, oceanscience, renewables and/or surveyindustries.
Please note, you will need to pass an OffshoreMedical prior to employment.
