About the Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take responsibility for the commercial aspects of a project or part of a larger project. You'll manage costs, support your team, work closely with clients and subcontractors, and ensure commercial processes are followed. This is a key role where your decisions help protect the company financially and ensure projects are delivered successfully.
You'll be leading a team of Quantity Surveyors and working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
* Take the lead on commercial tasks for your assigned project or section of work
* Help ensure the project is commercially successful and in line with agreed targets
* Prepare and submit cost reports and applications for payment
* Review and respond to subcontractor accounts and correspondence
* Manage and negotiate with specific subcontractors
* Identify risks and opportunities from a commercial point of view
* Support the development and performance of more junior team members
* Agree and work towards your own personal development plan
* Maintain accurate records and present your work clearly and professionally
* Promote collaborative working, following company procedures and plans
* Take on other tasks as needed, in line with your experience and role level
What You Need (Skills & Knowledge)
* Solid experience in quantity surveying, ideally within construction or infrastructure
* A detailed understanding of contract and subcontract terms, particularly NEC
* Strong commercial awareness and financial skills
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
* A good understanding of construction processes and project delivery
* Leadership skills to support and develop junior staff
* Strong attention to detail and ability to present information clearly
* Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients and subcontractors
* You will need to support and follow the company's approach to collaborative working
* You'll be expected to contribute to health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) practices (separate responsibilities available on request)
* This role may require occasional travel between sites or offices
