3 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Specialist Business Support Officer (Admin & Clerical) will provide high‑quality administrative support within the Children, Family and Education Directorate.
• Working on a temporary basis for 12 weeks, the postholder will assist with day‑to‑day business support tasks to ensure smooth operational delivery and additional capacity for the service.
• The role is full‑time at 36 hours per week and based at 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide efficient administrative and clerical support to the team and management.
• Maintain, update and accurately input data into internal systems and databases.
• Manage correspondence, handle enquiries and respond to information requests in a timely manner.
• Support document preparation, including reports, minutes, letters and forms.
• Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take accurate minutes and distribute follow‑up actions.
• Assist with filing (electronic and physical), scanning and document management.
• Handle confidential information in line with data protection and organisational policies.
• Provide general business support to ensure smooth daily operations within the service.
• Liaise with internal departments and external partners when required.
Skills/Experience:
• Strong administrative and clerical experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident user of Microsoft Office applications and digital record‑keeping systems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience arranging meetings and producing accurate minutes.
• Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Customer‑focused approach when handling enquiries.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• Employment type: Temporary (12 weeks), 36 hours per week.
• Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, CH41 2YA.
• Rates: Umbrella/Ltd: £16.33 per hour.
