Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Automation
Working Pattern: Standard 37hr/wk
Working location: Bristol/Hybrid (4 days on site + 1 Remote)

Rolls-Royce are currently developing manufacturing methods, processes and materials for their composite fan blades and fan containment casings. We are going through an exciting phase of growth as we deliver composite components and manufacturing programmes across a range of products, including UltraFan Engine demonstrator programme.

The Composite Technology Facility (CTF) is part of our Engineering, Test and Safety business. This role sits within the UltraFan Integrated Project Team at CTF Bristol, with some visits to our offsite facility.
The role will involve development of hardware for a Mk2 Engine Architecture and related components. It is based in CTF Bristol on the Filton site with cross-site collaboration including Rolls-Royce Derby, external suppliers and the Composites Centre (NCC).

The selected applicant will work within Rolls-Royce manufacturing teams to influence the creation and delivery of the next composite fan system, managing work packages within the CTF and delivering results across a cross-functional team including Design Engineers, Technical Specialists, Operations and Quality.

As a minimum, we expect attendance at the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average four days per week.
What you will be doing
* Ensure the correct and efficient function of all modules, machines and robots within the composite preforming production cell of the facility. Support housekeeping, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrade activities.
* Support Operators, Manufacturing Engineers (ME) and Process Owners with production operations and troubleshooting; liaise with the OEM of the production cell and coordinate on-site visits as required.
* Ensure preforming process techniques meet customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Lead time.
* Develop the Technical Package (Equipment Specification, TI's, PFMEAs, Tooling, Equipment and HSE documentation) to define the manufacturing process and control it effectively.
Who we're looking for
* Engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND or HNC with Manufacturing Engineering and Automation experience.
* Knowledge of automated pre-impregnated composite processes including automated fibre placement. Experience with CNC machines or robotic arms and control systems in a fully automated production line is beneficial.
* Understanding of Siemens Sinumerik control systems in a production environment.
* Understanding of the manufacturing engineering toolset to improve processes in our route to zero defects.
* Experience with aerospace management systems and adherence to process controls.
