Job Summary
GE’s Power Conversion & Storage business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for high‑performance applications. We work with major energy, maritime and industrial organizations to enable energy efficiency and decarbonisation, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain Drive Control Application Software for GE Power’s new electric drive systems.
* Specify, design, code and validate application software for MW‑scale power electronic drive systems for marine, naval, energy and industry applications.
* Write application software that interfaces with peripheral equipment.
* Validate application software using Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop rigs and laboratory test drives.
* Develop and maintain engineering interfaces to other teams (Power Electronics, Automation, Power Systems) to provide a fully integrated system solution.
* Support commissioning and validation of electrical drive systems.
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Experience working with Variable Speed Drive application software.
* Experience implementing and validating application software.
* Experience creating requirements documents, technical reports and functional design documents.
* Good understanding of converter system and power converter topologies for AC/DC, DC/AC and DC‑to‑DC converter systems.
* Willingness to travel to customer sites for meetings and equipment validation.
* Eligible to obtain UK security clearance to BPSS level or higher.
Desired (Not Essential) Skills
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Experience creating and presenting technical reports and responding to client technical questions.
* Good understanding of drive control system architectures.
* Strong understanding of electrical machines (DC, induction, synchronous, permanent‑magnet).
* Good understanding of product life cycle and configuration management.
* Experience in Agile project execution, including planning and execution of engineering activities.
