Our client is a leading engineering & technology firm specialising in delivering innovative solutions in Controlled Environment Agriculture and Horticulture. They are committed to excellence, technical innovation, and developing long-term client partnerships.

Role Overview
They are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Technical Sales Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen to drive sales, expand market share, and build lasting relationships with clients. You will bridge the gap between engineering teams and clients, ensuring that solutions delivered not only meet customer needs, but also align with our client’s technical standards and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within target sectors/customers.
2. Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve or exceed revenue targets.
3. Engage with clients to understand technical requirements, propose solutions, and oversee technical proposal development.
4. Collaborate closely with product development / engineering teams to ensure feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and delivery timelines.
5. Provide technical support during pre-sales activities (presentations, demos, proof of concept / prototyping, site visits).
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product portfolio, industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory developments.
7. Negotiate contracts / terms with clients, ensuring alignment with company policies and profitability targets.
8. Track, report and analyse sales metrics; forecast revenue; manage pipelines.
9. Represent client at industry events, trade shows, conferences as required.

Key Person Specification

10. Degree within Horticulture/Agriculture/Engineering
11. Extensive Technical experience of automated control systems within growing environments
12. Experience of working within a protected cropping environment – either edible or no-edible crops
13. Ability to travel regularly and extensively
