Overview
Designated Professional/Nurse Safeguarding Adults role at NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB). Hybrid working with in-office requirements; two days a week in the office for team days and in-person system meetings, subject to business need. Main duties
The Designated Professional for Safeguarding Adults will provide strategic leadership and support across the Integrated Care System for Safeguarding Adults within BNSSG, in line with Intercollegiate Documents for Safeguarding Adults, the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and related statutory guidance (e.g., NHSE Safeguarding Accountability and Assurance Framework, domestic abuse and serious violence duties). The post holder will support, coach and advise Deputy Designated Nurses/Professionals and Named GPs (All-Age) and collaborate with Head of Safeguarding to lead and manage the ICB Safeguarding team (including Deputy Designated Nurses/Professionals, Named GPs and business support). They will contribute to Safeguarding Adult Boards/Partnership work and ensure safeguarding is considered in strategic planning, governance, procurement, commissioning and service delivery across BNSSG.
Reporting and Collaboration
Working with the Head of Safeguarding (All Age) to ensure statutory safeguarding duties are delivered, with accountability to the Chief Nursing Officer of the ICB. The role will be supported by a team and will collaborate with local authorities and health partners to promote safeguarding and clinical governance adherence.

Job Responsibilities
Provide professional leadership for safeguarding adults and facilitate improvements in the quality of health services through collaboration across the Integrated Care System, local authorities and health partners. Lead quality assurance of safeguarding practice across BNSSG and evidence learning from statutory safeguarding reviews. Offer expert advice and clinical/professional leadership to local health providers and partner agencies to safeguard adults at risk. Lead and manage the ICB Safeguarding team and support delivery of statutory safeguarding duties in collaboration with the ICB Safeguarding Team, with accountability to the Chief Nursing Officer.
Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential
* Educated to masters level or equivalent senior experience in a specialist area.
* Registered Professional.
* Extensive knowledge of relevant national policies and implications for safeguarding adults.
* Strategic thinking and experience leading change in service developments.
* Experience in clinical/professional governance, audit and evidence-based practice.
* Understanding of relationships between DH, NHSE, the ICB, and provider/commissioning organisations.
* Experience in health investigations for a Section 42 enquiry, organisational safeguarding and whole home investigations.
* Strong leadership in multi-agency safeguarding.
* Experience building senior-level relationships and line management.
* Understanding of Care Act 2014 Section 42, Mental Capacity Act and DoLs, PREVENT, Domestic Abuse and Modern Slavery.

* Ongoing personal and professional development.
* Knowledge of legal frameworks including court attendance.
* Experience analysing data and presenting findings clearly.
