Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to establish paternity, enforce and modify child support orders and locate absent parents and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Child Support Supervisor I.
Responsibilities
* Establish paternity and child support obligations, and address medical coverage issues.
* Locate absent parents and enforce support obligations.
* Prepare cases for court action and participate in case staffing with supervision and the IV-D attorney.
* Attend Child Support court regularly to assist the IV-D attorney in establishing and enforcing orders.
* Maintain regular contact with County and State Child Support agencies, absent parents, clients, Clerk of Courts office, judges, district attorneys, magistrates, employers, and the public.
* Perform genetic testing to establish paternity.
Education & Experience
Graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of Child Support experience or 2 years of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work; or an Associate's Degree in a Human Service related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service related field and 6 months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; ability to interview clients, absent parents, and related sources; ability to investigate cases, organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, absent parents, resources, Clerk of Court offices, magistrates, district attorneys, sheriff, court officials, and private attorneys.

Work Location
This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel as needed. Any change of work location must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.
