Reporting into the South West Service Manager, the Generator Engineer will provide maintenance, installation, diagnosis, repair, and testing services across a range of diesel generator sets, switchgear, control systems, and associated equipment. Our support is carried out at clients' premises or Pharos sites. Key tasks include:
* Carrying out diagnostic, testing, and remedial works on generators, switchgear, and associated equipment, including support for PPM and load banking.
* Electrical fault finding and repair.
* Generator upgrades, including control panels.
* Providing call-out cover for generator breakdowns on a rota system.
* Carrying out client site visits and generating accurate, timely reports.
* Projecting spares requirements for upcoming and planned works.
* Supporting team technical development, training, and mentoring.
* Supporting operational tasks such as reporting, quotations, progress reports, and customer enquiries.
* Out-of-hours working and on-call service.
Minimum requirements include:
* At least 5 years' experience in the generator industry, with a minimum of 2 years in standby power.
* Proficiency in the installation and operation of DSE/Comap.
* Qualified electrical engineer (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or HND in Electronic/Electrical Engineering).
* Qualified to 18th Edition Electrical Regulations.
* 2391/2 Inspect and Test certification.
* Switchgear experience/qualification (highly desirable).
* Strong technical report writing skills with attention to detail.
* A good network within the generator field (advantageous).
* Full UK driving license.
