My client is a rapidly growing company selling innovative test equipment for the data storage industry for some of the world's best-known electronics manufacturers. They produce many unique products that are now critical parts of their customers' test processes. The company has grown rapidly over the last 5 years, with a strong client base within the USA, China and India. Working as a Graduate Applications Engineer, this role is based 5 days a week on the clients site - approx 45 mins from Inverness. You will have the chance to be immersed in a varied and high-paced work environment at the cutting edge of automated test technology for data storage centres, telecoms, automotive and space, amongst countless other applications. This role bridges hardware engineering, support, and production interface functions, with a focus on sustaining existing products and resolving technical issues. The Graduate Applications Engineer / Sustaining Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and quality of hardware offering by identifying and diagnosing hardware issues, supporting RMAs, and feeding back insights into both design and production. Skills Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong hands-on skills in debugging hardware using lab tools. Methodical problem-solving mindset with a high attention to detail. Confident technical communicator – both verbal and written Any exposure to the following is an added bonus: Exposure to automated test environments (e.g., Python-based tools). Computer architecture experience Experience working in a product-focused or manufacturing-linked engineering role. Familiarity with power, PCIe, or storage testing technologies.
