Job Overview

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 3 MONTHS DUE TO THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate clinical pharmacist with a keen interest in surgery and anaesthetics to join our expanding integrated pharmacy team. You will become part of a unique team in a highly patient focussed role.

The successful candidate will be a specialist clinical pharmacist, with or able to work towards an independent prescribing qualification. You will be able to work as part of a ward‑based team and across the wider Central IHC, providing leadership and clinical expertise to other pharmacists and technicians within the IHC.

The post will be based in the central area of North Wales using Glan Clwyd hospital as the base. Working and/or living in North Wales (an area of outstanding natural beauty) has plenty to offer – leading the way in the UK for thrilling outdoor pursuits on the coast, lakes and mountains with city life in Chester on the door step.

As we are looking to expand and develop our team we invite applicants from all pharmacy backgrounds who may be able to bring different and valuable experience with them. We also welcome applications for those who require flexible working.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced pharmacist to join our surgical pharmacy team who will relish the challenge of improving medication safety for patients within surgery and anaesthetics.

There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to integrate within the multidisciplinary teams, support with guideline, protocol and service development across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

You will be encouraged to undertake quality improvement initiatives, review clinical practice and processes, develop staff and patient education and work with the relevant teams to review incidents.

You will be self‑motivated with excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills. The ability to liaise with and influence senior clinical staff and colleagues with various clinical background across all sectors of the Central IHC – including and not limited to primary, community and secondary care is essential.

The successful candidate will benefit from working in a transformational department and our aim is that all of our pharmacy team maximise their potential. We actively encourage career progression by offering funded places on the Independent Prescribing Course and Advanced Clinical Practice MSC. Research and development opportunities are also available and we actively encourage professional development and carer progression.
