We are looking for a talented Design Engineer to join our clients technical team responsible for the next generation of market-leading Compact Wheel Loaders. In this role, you will design and develop innovative fluid line solutions for our world-class mobile construction products.
This is a 12-month contract position based in Desford, Leicestershire.
Pay Rate: £25.90- £28.90 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00, with some flexibility on start and finish times
Your Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of fluid lines installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant, and air conditioning systems.
Your key duties will include:
Designing the routing of hose and tube assemblies, selecting appropriate adapters, and defining mounting arrangements.
Collaborating with global teams and suppliers to ensure new designs meet quality, velocity, and cost targets for series production.
Managing and coordinating design changes throughout the engineering lifecycle, working with sales, product development, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
Communicating design progress to stakeholders and other functional areas through presentations and detailed reports.
What You'll Bring to the Role
To succeed in this position, you will need a strong background in design and engineering.
Essential Skills & Experience:
3D CAD Expertise: Extensive knowledge of creating 3D CAD geometry using fluid lines modelling techniques (Creo is preferred, but others are considered). You must be able to route hydraulic fluid lines effectively.
Data Management: The ability to complete and track engineering changes using data management systems, ideally Teamcenter.
Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyse problems, determine the root cause, and develop creative and effective solutions.
Product Design: A proven ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements and production-ready designs.
Organisation: The skill to effectively prioritise your time and manage multiple concurrent activities.
Communication: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working within a diverse, global team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Top candidates will also have:
Prior engineering experience within a mobile construction equipment manufacturing environment.
A demonstrable understanding of large-scale product development systems and processes.
This contract role is essential to fill a gap within the team and could serve as an extended interview for a future permanent position.
