This is a Band 2/3 post with opportunities for Band 2 progression upon completion and demonstration of the competencies required to become a Band 3 Maternity Support Worker. The role will require a commitment to working in various areas of the service.

Under the guidance and supervision of the midwifery team, you will be responsible for providing personalized care for women, their families, and their babies, including a range of clinical duties. You will provide information and support in an appropriate manner and accurately record and collate information to ensure the best experience possible of the Maternity Service.
You will be expected to act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust values, working as part of the team to ensure women and their families receive excellent care with compassion. Any concerns should be escalated to the midwife.
You will support the maternity service at Preston Birth Centre, Chorley Birth Centre, and in the community, so a full driving license and use of a car are essential. The focus will be on providing support, guidance, and care to new mothers and their babies.
You will work under the supervision of midwives, supporting them with clinical, domestic, and administrative duties.
A specific training package has been developed, focusing on skill development related to the needs of mothers, babies, and families. The midwifery team will work closely with you to develop the skills necessary to deliver high-quality care.
You must have completed the Care Certificate, have GCSE Maths and English at grade C/5 or above, and hold an NVQ Level 2 in care or equivalent. Evidence of working at Band 2 as a Healthcare Assistant or Maternity Support Worker will be required, with certificates provided if appointed.
