Job Description
An opportunity has arisen at Aberdeenshire Council's Statutory Harbour Authority Northern Harbours for a Harbour Duty Officer covering out of hours operations at Macduff Harbour, a commercial fishing port on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland. The role requires working irregular and unsocial hours, including weeknights on 7.4‑hour shifts and weekends. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of the harbour and vessels during off‑hours and assisting with activities that support the efficient and effective running of the harbour. The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement.
Macduff Harbour offers a range of facilities to mariners such as fish landing services, catch refrigeration, slipway and ship repairs.
Responsibilities
* Cover out of hours operations for the harbour.
* Ensure safety and security of harbour and vessels during off‑hours.
* Assist with activities that support efficient and effective harbour operation.
* Demonstrate commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Current full driving licence.
* Vehicle available for duty as required.
* Reference from current or most recent employer.
Material Condition
It is a material condition of employment for this post that the employee holds a current full driving licence and has a car available whenever required. If the driving licence is withdrawn for any reason, termination of the appointment may occur.
