Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals
40 hours per week (10 PAs), 12‑month fixed‑term contract
Salary dependent on experience: £88,364 – £119,133
An excellent opportunity to join our expanding, patient‑centred Gastroenterology department. We offer a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services and an active endoscopy unit that performs approximately 15,000 procedures annually. You will support outpatient transformation and contribute to the development of luminal and liver services through blended workforce engagement.

Location: Blackpool Teaching Hospitals – Whinney Heys Rd, Blackpool, FY3 8NR
Responsibilities
Provide consultant care in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as banding, injection, stent insertion, balloon dilatation, colonoscopy, polypectomy, mucosal resection, push enteroscopy, ERCP, EUS and capsule endoscopy. Assist in the performance of EUS for UGI and HPB, single balloon enteroscopy and new TNE service. Manage endoscopy recovery and contribute to performance dashboards. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings (Radiology, Upper & Lower GI, HPB, IBD, Nutrition, Liver and MDTs). Support the delivery of IBD, Nutrition, Liver and Alcohol liaison services, and contribute to the development of outpatient pathways.
Person Specification
* Full GMC Registration
* Higher Degree (MD/PHD)
* MRCP or Equivalent
Desirable
* Previous experience in research
* Experience of NHS systems
* Previous experience in a locum post in Gastro with Endoscopy experience
* Relevant experience to apply for the role
