Job Title: Lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery
Salary: Circa £38,000 FTE
Job Type: We are recruiting for a full-time permanent position & 0.5 FTE proportional contract.

As a Lecturer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure that our students achieve successful learning outcomes and progress to their chosen destinations. While previous teaching experience and/or a recognised teaching qualification are desirable, we also welcome applicants with a passion for the industry and a commitment to fostering the growth of future professionals.
You'll use your professional expertise to deliver engaging and effective teaching across our programmes up to level 3. This role caters to 16-18 year old learners, apprentices, and adult groups. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire educational spectrum, including planning and preparation, marking, day-to-day communication with students, and administration tasks such as admissions, enrolment, registration, and attendance tracking.
New to Teaching?
For any new member of teaching staff, who join us direct from industry, we have a bespoke programme of support. This includes weekly support from both an ‘Off The Tools Mentor’ and an ‘Advanced Teacher Practitioner’ (ATP). Together the Off the Tools Mentor and ATP will support with the development of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, as well as supporting with navigating through the change from industry to education. In addition, we offer the opportunity to complete the Level 3 Award in Teaching in Education within the first year, followed by the opportunity to potentially progress to a Certificate in Education the following year.

Levelling up premium payments for FE teachers
Attention all eligible FE teachers! Are you looking to level up your career and earn more while teaching specific courses? You may be eligible to claim a levelling-up premium payment for teaching courses in building and construction, chemistry, computing, early years, engineering and manufacturing, maths, and physics. The payment ranges from £2,000 to £6,000 depending on your provider and the number of hours you teach. If you’re in your first 5 years of teaching in FE and spend at least half of your hours teaching eligible FE courses at level 3 or below, you may be eligible. Essential Criteria
* Possess a minimum of a relevant Level 3 vocational qualification
* Recent relevant industry-related experience
* Ability to inspire, motivate and raise the aspirations of learners through high-quality teaching
Desirable Criteria
* Possess a PGCE/Certificate of education or equivalent teaching qualification – or commitment to work towards
* Track record of successful teaching experience across a range of levels
* Recent industry-related experience relevant to the academic discipline
* Detailed knowledge of relevant course subject matter and examination and assessment requirements
