WCB NE is looking for experienced Support Workers to join our dedicated team, supporting children and young people in crisis.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will support young people facing trauma, emotional distress, and behavioural challenges — helping them feel safe, supported, and empowered to move forward.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide hands-on support to children and young people in crisis
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of those in your care
* Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours
* Build positive, trusting relationships
* Support daily routines, education, and life skills
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
* Assist with daily tasks including cooking and cleaning
Requirements
* Minimum 12 months’ experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Calm, resilient, and able to work under pressure
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Flexible availability (including sleep-ins and waking nights)
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
* Ability to provide 5 years’ employment references
* Willing to complete pre-employment training
* willing to do some weekends
Desirable:
* Full UK driving licence
