What's the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Associate Transport Planner with proven track record in development planning, delivering transport planning projects and ideally within a consultancy background. This senior role is designed for an individual with a passion for transport planning through a proactive, can-do, attitude and an interest in collaborative working opportunities.
This role would be perfect for a strong Senior or Principal Transport Planner looking for a new and exciting challenge with a rapidly growing company. The bulk of your day will be guiding clients and assisting in project delivery and team management. You will be expected to develop new business for the consultancy and help drive further growth. As such, private sector experience is required for the successful candidate.
We are looking for a talented individual who can deliver and oversee high-quality technical planning service deliverables from the Bristol office, helping build, grow and manage the Transport Planning team and assisting and work with the wider disciplines at Ridge to continue to build our excellent reputation.
What you need to do to be effective in this role
* Management and successful delivery of transport planning projects, including day to day management of projects and clients
* Analyses relating to transportation/traffic engineering projects including traffic modelling, database, spread sheet and proprietary modelling coding and interrogation
* Preparation of technical reports and presentations relating to the project as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice
* Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
* Liaising with the Project Director / Manager and client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project
* Assisting in the resolution of complex technical issues
* Document management, including drawing registers
* Providing transport planning advice to colleagues and clients
* Monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes
Skills and experience you need to have for this role
* Degree in transport related subject (e.g., Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering), or equivalent
* Relevant experience, including a range of projects across the sectors, preferably within the private sector
* Commercial awareness and the confidence, ability and experience to provide clear, authoritative advice
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project
* An excellent knowledge of the principles of transport planning and understanding of trip generation, trip distribution, design standards, and the contents of Transport Assessments/Statements and Travel Plan is required
* A detailed understanding of TRICS, Junctions 10 and LinSig is required. Skills in CAD, road safety engineering, junction design and assessment would be an advantage
* Full current driving licence
