Business Support Officer - Hackney Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)
Hackney Education is seeking a Business Support Officer to support the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF). This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation of the programme, which provides activities and food for young people in Hackney. The Department for Education renews the funding for this scheme periodically on a fixed term basis and has just announced a three year extension of funding until March 31st 2028. This post will be three days per week and a fixed term contract until 31st of March 2026 and we expect to be able to offer an extension to the role in 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and validate user eligibility for HAF via a centralised booking system.
- Process and monitor all financial activities and invoices in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update the Hackney HAF webpage in collaboration with the web team.
- Provide administrative support, including meeting organisation and minute-taking.
- Support quality assurance visits to clubs during school holidays. These visits will be conducted during the Easter, Christmas and summer school holidays, although not on public holidays such as Christmas day.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and financial returns, ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for providers, schools, and the public regarding the HAF programme.
Candidate Profile:
We require a candidate with the following:
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets).
- GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics (grade C or higher, or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in producing, completing, and monitoring diverse data collection.
- Experience in managing digital assets on a shared online drive.
- Experience in financial administration, including handling invoices and purchase orders, is desirable.
- A solid understanding of data protection and freedom of information protocols.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently, ensuring value for money and accurate financial oversight.
- Commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable individuals.
Salary: Scale 5 (£34,359 to £35,892 pro rata)
