Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Inspector to support quality assurance and control activities on a critical defence programme at the BAE Systems site in Barrow-in-Furness, on behalf of Bureau Veritas. The successful candidate will ensure all electrical installation, inspection, and testing activities comply with stringent regulatory, client, and industry quality standards within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
The role will be working on a 12 Month+ Contract - Outside of IR35
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections of electrical installations, systems, and components.
* Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and electrical standards.
* Review and validate electrical test results and certification documentation.
* Witness and sign off testing activities including FAT/SAT where required.
* Ensure adherence to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures.
* Raise, document, and track non-conformances (NCRs) and ensure close-out.
* Interface with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
* Maintain accurate QA/QC records and inspection reports.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience as an Electrical Quality Inspector within a regulated industry.
* Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of electrical installation standards (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
* Experience with inspection, testing, and commissioning processes.
* Familiarity with QA/QC documentation and reporting systems.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience on BAE Systems Barrow site or defence programmes.
* Marine, submarine, or nuclear sector experience.
* CompEx or similar hazardous area certification.
* 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent).
* Experience within major EPC or construction projects.
Security Clearance & Compliance Requirements
* Role is subject to UK National Security Vetting.
* Candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
* Preference for candidates holding active SC clearance.
* Typically requires UK residency for the last 5 years.
* Must have the right to work in the UK.
* Must complete security vetting before site access.
* Must adhere to all site security and confidentiality protocols.
