We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious performance analyst to join a performance analysis team dedicated to providing world class performance analysis support to emerging elite women and girl’s rugby players in North Wales, ensuring players are prepared for the demands of professional and international rugby.
The purpose of this part-time role is to deliver the national strategic direction for performance analysis to support the development of Performance Pathway for female players within the North Wales catchment, and in doing so drive forward the WRU strategic objective of ‘developing more and better players for the professional game and for Wales through life enriching experiences’.

The Person
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in performance analysis or a sport science related subject with previous experience of talent or performance environments and working with coaches to advance players. They will have a thorough understanding of the latest sport science and analysis techniques and research, coupled with excellent IT skills and working knowledge of SportsCode software, other software suites such as Google and Microsoft, and a comfort and confidence with the Apple Mac operating system.
The successful candidate will also possess a demonstrable ability to shoot high quality still and moving images with a specific emphasis on material for performance analysis applications.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships across playing groups, schools, colleges, PDCs, and national pathways while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with coaches, Sport Science & Medicine staff, and national programme leads.
The Role
The role is responsible for developing the performance analysis programme within PDC North, providing a blend of innovative solutions alongside current best practice to enable the effective progression and transition of North Walian players through the pathway from schools/college to national programmes.
This will be achieved by:
•Building individual player performance profiles using SportsCode databasing, statistical reporting techniques, and future and current game trend analysis.
•Working with the PDC Lead and SSSM staff to develop and regularly review long term individual player development against profiles and game trends.
•Enhancing the coaching process, coaching practice, and subsequently player development through the provision of analytical interventions.
•Delivering performance analysis of PDC North teams, individual players, and opposition to assist both player and coach feedback, and the talent identification, development, and confirmation process.
•Managing ancillary performance analysis staff within PDC North, providing direction, reviewing performance, and upskilling at regular and timely intervals.
•Ensuring the filming, analysis, archiving of PDC North training and matches in the national database, and manage the maintenance and ongoing inventory of all RGC performance analysis and IT equipment.
•At the discretion of the Women’s Pathway Performance Analyst and National Lead (Performance Analysis), providing performance analysis services to the Women’s National U20s and U18s teams.
WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a enhanced DBS check.
