This is a key role to support the H&S Manager by integrating effectively with the senior management team onsite to ensure H&S standards & compliance is achieved and maintained through high levels of employee engagement. The successful candidate will play a lead role in the continuous improvement of the Safety Plan that demonstrates a strong safety culture for employees, visitors and contractors. How will you contribute?
1. Manage site Health & Safety in accordance with Wincanton’s Safety Health Environmental Procedures
2. Ensure the site meets or exceeds the Health & Safety targets expected by Company / Client
3. Manage and maintain site training records and site training matrix
4. Co-ordination of all site Health & Safety activities including committees and training and communications to ensure the site remains compliant
5. Assist/undertake risk assessments and create SSOWs as required.
6. Using corporate IT systems to produce reports & support the delivery of Safety across the network.
7. Ensure compliance when dealing with accident investigation and RIDDOR reports
8. Work in line with Company Process and Audit requirements
9. Act as necessary without supervision to get things done and organize people and activities effectively, knowing what to measure and how to measure it.
10. Liaise daily with H&S Manager and site management team
11. Define problems and devise effective solutions using rigorous logical and analytical tools
12. Be pro-active in decision making based on analysis, experience, judgement and intuition
13. Carry out site inspections to analyses what exists and what needs to be done, and arrange for appropriate actions to be taken
14. Ensure compliance with Regulations by making frequent, unannounced physical inspections and by audits of the written documentation
15. Hold Health & Safety meetings and oversee First Aiders on site again acting in accordance to site compliance and current legislation
16. Manage and drive safety plans across all network sites including advocating a H&S comes first culture.
17. Management of contractors on site. permit to work
18. To attended company safety conferences / courses as required throughout the year
What will you bring?
19. IOSH qualification required as minimum
20. NEBOSH qualification preferred but not essential
