Financial Lines Technical Underwriter
Are you someone with a strong underwriting background looking to provide technical leadership within the Chief Underwriting Office? This role would suit an underwriter who enjoys thinking strategically over both the short and longer term with the desire to develop our underwriting approach to solve complex problems.
If you have experience in at least one of the Financial Lines classes of Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers/Management Liability, Financial Institutions, Pension Trustees, Commercial Crime, Cyber, Mergers & Acquisitions, Surety and Legal Indemnities, then this is a role for you!
A bit about the job:
Reporting to the UK Casualty Underwriting Manager you will provide underwriting oversight on technical underwriting issues including developing underwriting guidance and defining risk acceptance rules. We are looking for someone with a technical underwriting background who is looking operate at a strategic rather than trading level.
You will also research new and emerging issues to identify potential future threats and/or opportunities and develop underwriting and risk management solutions to either mitigate the effects or grow our business.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Technical underwriting knowledge in one or more of the Financial Lines classes
2. Ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear, concise, and simple way, while adapting your style for different internal and external stakeholders
3. Experience of developing wordings (desirable but not essential)
4. Ability to think strategically
5. Experience of Regional and London market portfolios is desirable
