Theatretrain is looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join our existing team of Performing Arts teachers for one of our Musical Theatre classes.
* Permanent, part-time position based in Tavistock
* Creative freedom to direct students aged 7-18
* Exciting Friday evening work for dance professionals
Experience or qualifications in dance? Love working with young people? How would you like to join an innovative theatre training company as our Choreographer?
Theatretrain has been around for 30 years in locations all across the UK. We are so much more than a performing arts school – we are a team-based professional theatre training company for young people. With us, you'll be able to pass your expertise on to our students. No curriculum to weigh you down and no two sessions the same
Our aim is to give high-quality theatre training to children and young people, so that they can carry their newfound confidence, teamwork and imagination forth with them well into adulthood. We also create large-scale shows for our students to remember at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the London Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
As Choreographer, you will help lead our Friday evening Musical Theatre class from 5.30pm to 7pm at Mount Kelly Prep School, with the occasional extra rehearsal leading up to our big performances. You must be able to adapt your choreography to respond well to different groups - a 'cookie cutter' approach just doesn't work when it comes to the performing arts. We want an individual who understands that every performer is different, and that dance does not happen in isolation from its singing and acting counterparts in performance. An all-rounder who specialises in choreography is what we are looking for.
Ideally you'll also have…
* Experience of working with young people
* Professional dance or choreography training with professional experience.
* Great leadership skills that emulate patience and compassion, but also enthusiasm and energy for your craft
* The ability to incorporate technique into your sessions, without overtly focusing on it and becoming too academic
* A flexible approach to instructing and choreography, willing to accommodate every performer of every ability
* Flexibility to absorb the Theatretrain Way
* An in-date DBS (or be happy to apply for one)
