About the Role
As a Warehouse Operative Buddy/Trainer, you will play a key role in supporting the onboarding, training, and development of new and existing warehouse operatives. You’ll act as a mentor and role model, ensuring that colleagues are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform their roles safely and efficiently. This position combines hands‑on operational work with people development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
 * Buddying & Mentoring: Welcome and support new starters during their induction period; provide on‑the‑job training and guidance in line with company procedures; foster a positive and inclusive working environment.
 * Training Delivery: Deliver practical training on warehouse processes including goods‑in, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns; ensure operatives understand and follow health & safety, manual handling, and equipment usage protocols; monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
 * Operational Support: Perform general warehouse duties as required, maintaining productivity and quality standards; lead by example in terms of attendance, attitude, and performance.
 * Communication & Reporting: Liaise with team leaders and training coordinators to identify training needs; maintain accurate records of training delivered and progress made; escalations of concerns or issues affecting trainee performance or wellbeing.
Skills & Experience
 * Proven experience in a warehouse operative role.
 * Strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety procedures.
 * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 * Ability to motivate and support others.
 * Patient, approachable, and confident in delivering training.
 * Basic IT skills for record‑keeping and reporting.
 * Must be flexible to work various shifts, including weekends, to provide support as needed.
Desirable Qualifications
 * Manual Handling or Health & Safety certification.
 * Experience in a buddying, mentoring, or training role.
 * FLT or MHE licence.
