About the role
Detention ServiceOfficers play a keypartin ensuring a safe, respectful, and stable environment for individuals inour care.You’ll be the person they interact with daily, helping maintain their wellbeing, guiding them through routine processes, and ensuring security standards are upheld at all times.No two days are the same-the work is varied, challenging, and rewarding.
What We Offer
Paid Training Program:7weeksin Northamcompleting full-time, paid training that equips you with everything you need to step confidently into the role.
NationallyRecognisedQualification:Receive a fully funded Certificate III inImmigration Detention Operationsgivingyouvaluable qualifications for your future.
Wage Progression:Earn$31.96per hour during training, rising to$34.81 plus penaltiesonceyou’reoperational.
Role responsibilities
Foster a safe and respectful environment by engaging directly with detainees and reporting any concerns about abuse, impropriety, or health and wellbeing.
Ensure thecentreoperatessmoothly, rotating across posts andassistingin high-priority areas to support staff and detainee safety.
Conduct screening and monitoring, including searches, security checks, and use of CCTV and alarm systems.
Respond to emergencies, follow critical incident protocols, and document all incidents and interactions in alignment with the Case Management Framework.
Perform headcounts, conduct welfare checks, and complete daily reports with accuracy and professionalism.

Be availableto complete a7-week full-time training program inNortham commencing on March 30th, 2026.
Have strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Possess teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset
Have the ability tocomplete all required pre-employment checks including an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical including a functional assessment and drug & alcohol screening
Carry out a variety of physical task such as push-ups,sprintsand squatsetc
Hold aWorking with Children Check orbewilling to obtain
Have availability to work on a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
