Manufacturing Engineer - CNC / Production Readiness

Rate: £48 per hour
Overview
An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in bringing a new product into production within a purpose‑built manufacturing facility. This hands‑on, high‑impact role involves shaping how products are made from early process design through to factory readiness, commissioning and stable production, working closely with engineering, operations, quality and leadership.
What you'll be doing
* Leading manufacturing readiness activities for a new product introduction
* Designing, developing and optimising CNC machining processes to drive quality and repeatability
* Scoping and delivering capital equipment projects from business case through installation and handover
* Supporting factory layout design, workflow optimisation and equipment placement
* Analysing production capacity, constraints and flow to identify practical improvements
* Owning PFMEAs and process controls in line with APQP principles
* Presenting improvement proposals and investment cases to senior stakeholders
* Overseeing contractor activities during installation and commissioning phases
* Mentoring and supporting other engineers within the team
What we're looking for
* Strong background in manufacturing or industrial engineering
* Proven experience in CNC machining and process development
* Experience with production readiness, APQP, PFMEA and capital equipment delivery
* Ability to design tooling and concepts using CAD (Creo preferred)
* Confident working cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
* Strong communication skills – comfortable engaging engineers, operators and senior leaders
* Structured, organised and proactive with a problem‑solving mindset
* Comfortable balancing safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives
