Overview
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver priorities that will create safer London communities.
Role Description
We are seeking to appoint a permanent Principal Research Officer for Performance Insights. This senior role will oversee performance analysis, data visualisations and other analytical products, feeding evidence into MOPAC policy and strategy. The role involves working with key partners across City Hall, Metropolitan Police and other organisations.
Key Responsibilities
* Selecting, planning and directing the development of analytical products and techniques (ideally in a policing or criminal justice setting).
* Programme and risk management associated with analytical work.
* People management responsibilities, typically overseeing Performance and Analysis Officers, and analysis and oversight themes.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience in analytical roles within policing, criminal justice or a related domain.
* Strong skills in programme management, risk assessment and strategic oversight.
* Demonstrated experience leading teams of analysts and researchers.
* Must have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.
* Successful candidate will be required to undergo security vetting clearance (may take around 8 weeks).
Security Vetting Clearance
All staff of MOPAC are politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011). Candidates will be expected to undergo necessary security vetting.

Location
The role is hybrid, with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). Staff will work 1-2 days a week from an office hub, depending on role requirements.
