Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants to join our Community Paediatrics Service as a nurse specialist in Paediatric Continence. We are looking for an experienced and motivated children's nurse to join our dynamic Children's Community Nursing Service. The applicant will require vision to set up a new Nurse-led service, ensuring delivery of high-quality care. Proven leadership and change management skills will be essential to establish a service which puts children and young people at the heart of care planning. A thorough and sound knowledge base of continence will be vital to deliver seamless family-centred care from childhood through to transitioning into adulthood if required.
The post offers opportunity for continuing professional development and collaboration with universal and specialist services across primary, community and secondary care to establish an integrated and coordinated approach for Bladder and Bowel pathways.
Responsibilities
* Work as an autonomous practitioner
* Provide evidence-based care, demonstrating knowledge and experience in the care of children and young people with bladder and bowel dysfunction to inform care planning
* Provide opportunities for children and young people to achieve continence
* Demonstrate empathy, promote dignity and respect to empower the child or young person to develop skills to self-care and become independent
* Understand the psychological, mental health and education impact on the child or young person
* Have a good understanding of neurological and developmental diversity
* Work in partnership with adult services to establish transition pathways
* Act as an expert resource across the Health Board delivering education and training
* Establish links with Tertiary paediatric bowel and bladder services
* Note: Welsh language ability is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified children's nurse with proven leadership and change management skills
* Experience in paediatric continence care and family-centred approach
* Ability to lead a new nurse-led service and work collaboratively across primary, community and secondary care
* Commitment to continuing professional development
