Job title: Senior Designer – Mechanical
Location: Barrow-in-Furness – This is an on-site position
Salary: £36,000+ Depending on skills and experience
What you will be doing:
1. You will support our World Class Submarines by producing 3D models of pipe routes, HVAC systems, or mechanical compartment arrangements using CAD tools.
2. Responsibilities include producing 2D drawings, electronic data, and BoM item development to a fast-paced schedule supporting manufacturing, installation, and testing.
3. Develop and maintain close working relationships with team members and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
4. Work as part of a team to produce an integrated design meeting client expectations and requirements.
Your skills and experiences:
* Understanding of CAD tools and techniques (e.g., AutoCAD, Foran, SolidWorks, Siemens NX) in 2D and 3D outputs.
* HNC/ONC or degree in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent work experience.
* Knowledge of mechanical routed systems at 2D and 3D levels, including piping or HVAC design.
* Experience in Mechanical or Room Integration and engineering standards at component/equipment level.

The Mechanical Designer team:
You will work with mentors and coaches providing on-the-job support and training. Reporting to a Project Leader, you will be part of a team of designers supporting your development. Career progression could lead to roles such as Principal Designer or Assistant Project Leader.

Available across all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility.
