Family Paralegal

Overview
A highly regarded and established family law practice in Manchester is seeking an experienced Family Paralegal to join its growing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with solid family law experience who is looking for long-term progression within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.
The firm is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate leadership potential and would be open to managing and supervising a team of junior paralegals in the future as the department continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting fee earners and partners across a broad range of private family law matters
* Assisting with and progressing cases involving divorce, financial remedy, private children matters, cohabitation disputes, and related applications
* Drafting legal documentation including court applications, witness statements, schedules, correspondence, and bundles
* Conducting legal research, preparing chronologies, and assisting with case strategy
* Liaising with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and third parties with professionalism and sensitivity
* Attending meetings, conferences, and hearings alongside fee earners where required
* Managing files, including opening matters, conducting AML checks, diary management, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory procedures
* Maintaining accurate attendance notes, case records, and client updates
* Assisting on complex matters and taking increasing responsibility for progressing cases under supervision
* Supporting the development of internal processes and mentoring junior paralegals as the team grows
* Demonstrating leadership capability with a view to stepping into a supervisory or team lead role in the future
Requirements
* Previous experience in family law (essential) — ideally 1+ years as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant
* Strong understanding of family law procedures and court processes
* Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail
* Confident communicator with the ability to deal sensitively with clients
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines in a busy environment
* Experience preparing court bundles and handling disclosure is advantageous
* Ambition to progress and take on leadership or team management responsibilities
