DLG is evolving. Across every facet of our business, our teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. By joining them, you’ll have the opportunity to not just be recognised for your skills but encouraged to build upon them and empowered to do your absolute best.
Direct Line Group (DLG) has created a new Chief Controls Office (CCO) within the first line of defence as part of a group-wide risk and control transformation programme now in its second year. This provides a unique opportunity to be part of a skilled risk professional team that is redeveloping the end-to-end risk and control framework, including launching new RCSAs, control testing, a new integrated risk management system, and rebuilding risk management capabilities across the first line to foster a robust risk-aware culture within DLG.
What you'll be doing:
1. Provide risk and control management expertise to identify and assess risks and issues, ensuring they are escalated and recorded according to the Risk Management Framework. Support the design of appropriate actions to manage these risks within the business's risk appetite.
2. Support key activities such as the RCSA process, enabling the business to understand their control environment, assess risks, and drive a culture of action planning and remediation.
3. Assist in delivering effective Issue and event management by establishing governance, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying controls and remedial actions to support good customer outcomes.
4. Conduct trend analysis across various risk and control areas, identifying key actions.
5. Support deep dives into root causes of issues and control failures to strengthen the risk and control environment and protect customer and business outcomes.
6. Maintain an understanding of relevant risk appetite statements and KRIs, considering these when assessing risks and controls.
7. Ensure a proportionate approach to operational risk management, supporting strategic goals and complying with DLG standards.
8. Engage proactively with business areas to provide risk management support, focusing on business partnering and stakeholder management.
9. Work independently with relevant teams to influence risk identification, management, and measurement, providing challenge as needed.
10. Support the accuracy and embedding of the Workiva risk system and data inputs.
11. Be aware of audit and testing programmes, support the Control Testing Team, and ensure regulatory and internal standards are met.
12. Contribute to the wider Chief Controls Office's vision and objectives.
