ROLE: Civil Design and Engineering Technical Lead

HOURS: 40 hours per week

LOCATION: Hybrid Role

We're looking for a Civil Design and Engineering Technical Lead who will provide technical leadership, ensure compliant and constructible designs, and support major electricity infrastructure projects across the UK.

Role Responsibilities:

* Act as the Discipline Technical Lead for civil engineering design quality and output.
* Develop and maintain engineering standards, templates, and design methodologies.
* Lead design reviews, coordination, constructability assessments and ensure compliance with standards.
* Approve or author key deliverables including calculations, drawings, reports and specifications.
* Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Eurocodes, BS EN standards, SuDS, DMRB and client standards.
* Plan and resource civil design activities from feasibility through IFC stage.
* Lead design assurance including QA/QC, RAG monitoring and readiness for construction.
* Lead optioneering, value engineering, and risk reduction.
* Oversee survey scoping and interpretation for design decisions.
* Provide technical support during construction including NCR resolution and as‑built reviews.
* Mentor engineers, support competency development and promote knowledge sharing.
* Act as technical interface to clients, landowners, planning authorities and utilities.
* Support bids, proposals and technical assumptions.
* Champion safe‑by‑design and environmental considerations including low‑carbon design.
* Promote digital engineering tools and innovation including Civil 3D, Revit, modelling and automation.


Required Qualifications:

* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (MSc desirable).
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) via ICE or equivalent – highly advantageous.
* Typically 20+ years experience in civil design for UK electricity sector (DNO/TSO/EPC).
* Strong understanding of Eurocodes, UK BS standards, CDM 2015, geotechnical design, SuDS, drainage and earthworks.
* Excellent stakeholder communication and technical writing skills.
