Full-time

About the School and Role
An SEN school located in Bournemouth is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join their team. The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment for students aged 3 to 19 years, who have a wide spectrum of severe, complex, profound, and multiple learning difficulties. Every student at the school has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), which guides tailored educational and support strategies to meet their individual needs.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of pupils with diverse learning needs. As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that promote progress across a range of skills, including communication, social interaction, independence, and academic development. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, therapists, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities that meet the individual needs outlined in EHCPs
Assessing and monitoring pupil progress, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
Supporting pupils’ communication, social, and emotional development
Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies to implement personalised interventions
Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and independence
Upholding high standards of behaviour and well-being, promoting positive behaviour management techniques
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
A degree or equivalent qualification
Proven experience teaching primary or secondary-aged children, ideally within an SEN setting
Knowledge of a range of SEN needs, including severe and complex learning difficulties
A genuine passion for supporting pupils’ progress and development
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Patience, resilience, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners
Additional Information
Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing professional development will be provided. The school values dedicated educators who are committed to inclusive education and can inspire pupils to reach their full potential.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact in an SEN setting and are looking for a rewarding role, we would love to hear from you!
