Salary: £24,000 to £28,000 depending on experience
About the Role
Our client is a well-established criminal defence practice specialising in criminal law and road traffic matters. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and committed Paralegal to join their team and undertake fee-earning work.
The successful candidate will assist in representing clients throughout criminal investigations and proceedings, including attendance at Police Stations and Courts both during and outside normal office hours. This role requires a proactive individual with strong client care skills and a genuine interest in criminal defence work.
Main Purpose of the Role
1. To undertake fee-earning work and support clients in criminal defence and road traffic matters
2. To attend upon clients and represent their interests professionally and effectively
3. To assist with Police Station and Court attendances as required
Key Duties & Responsibilities
4. Manage all client matters allocated in accordance with the firm’s procedures and quality standards
5. Progress client work efficiently, ensuring clients are kept fully informed at all stages
6. Deliver high standards of client care in a professional, empathetic, and approachable manner
7. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all client and business information
8. Accurately record all fee-earning time
9. Comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Solicitors Code of Conduct
10. Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues across the firm
11. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external organisations and institutions
12. Take responsibility for ongoing training and professional development
13. Actively support business development and assist in attracting new work
14. Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required
Skills & Experience Required
15. Previous experience within a criminal law environment is desirable
16. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
17. Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied caseload
18. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
19. Professional, confident, and client-focused approach
20. Willingness to work flexibly, including out-of-hours attendance when required
