Description
The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management, organisation, delivery, and monitoring of performance for the University of Manchester’s Men’s Volleyball 2nd team, aiming to improve their performance in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). This role involves coaching and managing the 2nd team, which trains twice a week and competes in 10-14 fixtures from September to March, including league, Cup, and Varsity matches.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Deliver an effective coaching programme to enhance team performance and player experience.
2. Plan and execute pre-season training in September and post-season in January.
3. Lead training sessions and oversee coaching of the men’s 2nd team, delegating tasks to assistant coaches as appropriate.
4. Attend and manage BUCS fixtures or conduct training when no fixtures are scheduled.
5. Collaborate with the team captain and coaches to select the squad, maintain transparent selection processes, and participate in trials.
6. Assist in recruiting students for coaching opportunities and provide coaching within the club where appropriate.
7. Mentor student coaches and support members pursuing coaching qualifications or development within the Coaching Pathway.
8. Provide regular reports on team and club performance to the Representative Sport Coordinator.
9. Work closely with the Coordinator and committee members to develop Volleyball at The University of Manchester.
10. Ensure all sessions adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
11. Operate within an equal opportunities framework.
