Our people are what make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work. We’re a team of over 7,000 people with a purpose to deliver one of life’s essentials, and we do it all while thriving in our unique culture.

We’re a growing, Midlands-based FTSE100 plc and welcome people from all walks of life, celebrating their individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities we represent.

It’s an exciting time to join, as we have a huge ambition to deliver bigger and better than ever before over our next 5-year regulatory period. If you’re seeking an exciting and thoroughly rewarding career, Severn Trent is the place to be.

Due to an exciting new programme to deliver a full mains renewal across the UK over the next few years, we are now on a significant recruitment drive to scale our teams to deliver this work.

This is your opportunity to play a part in this transformation!

We are looking for a Network Construction Lead Operative to join our team, responsible for managing large-scale construction activity across multiple sites.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As our new Network Construction Lead Operative, you’ll be responsible for successfully completing Main renewal scheme activities on specific sites, ensuring our customers receive a safe, continuous supply of good quality drinking water.

You’ll be the senior member of the construction team on site, coordinating activities, providing support and guidance, and responsible for risk assessment and delivery of DMA Main Renewal schemes in accordance with SSOW and SOPS.

You’ll also ensure all schemes meet Severn Trent’s high standards while adhering to company ODI targets. The role involves overseeing and supporting contractors and external stakeholders on site.

This role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a half-hour early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.

Key Accountabilities:

* Ensure CDM compliance on site, responsible for health, safety, and well-being of team members, visitors, contractors, and the public, in accordance with CDM regulations.
* Communicate effectively with the on-site team and external stakeholders such as utility providers, asset owners, local authorities, and customers.
* Identify and mitigate potential hazards; document findings in daily risk assessments; ensure full compliance with SOPS.
* Manage impacts related to activities, including traffic management, supply interruptions, and other disruptions, and deliver work within planned budgets.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The ideal candidate will have experience with mains renewal schemes and/or a formal NCO qualification, within a utility environment. Experience coordinating activities and supporting teams, liaising with stakeholders, and working in high-pressure environments is essential.

You should have practical knowledge of CDM Regulations, risk identification, utility avoidance, Thrust Boring, Safe Digging, and operate below 10T with a 360 Excavator. Completion of all NRSWA modules is required.

A full UK driving license is necessary, as travel is involved.

We value the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude alongside skills and experience.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here offers career development, competitive benefits, and the chance to make a positive impact on communities and the environment. Perks include holidays, bonuses, pension contributions, share schemes, training, EV schemes, family policies, volunteering days, and participation in Mains Renewal schemes with earning potential.
