Offer description

Overview

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Band 6 Acute Liaison Psychiatry Service (ALPS) Mental Health Liaison Practitioner. The post is part of a team delivering liaison mental health services in Bradford and Airedale General Hospitals, providing timely and compassionate assessments and effective signposting for service users with mental health issues.

ALPS is an all-age service, so experience of working with children and young people and older people in a mental health crisis would be desirable.

Responsibilities

* Provide clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation and short-term contingency planning for service users presenting in Accident and Emergency Departments who are in mental health crisis.
* Deliver face-to-face brief solution-focused interventions in the community, empowering service users, carers and families in decision making and signposting to health and social care resources.
* Work within the Acute Liaison Psychiatry Service, establishing close relationships and partnership working with the Voluntary Care Sector, Local Authority, Blue Light services and, most importantly, service users and their families.
* Focus on trauma-informed care, ensuring equitable service for older adults, creating safe and inclusive pathways for intoxicated service users, addressing perinatal risk and linking to services to counter the impact of social deprivation.
* There may be opportunities for night shifts (nights only may be available).

Requirements / Qualifications

* Experience in an all-age ALPS environment; desirable experience with children/young people and older people in mental health crisis.
* Excellent motivated practitioner with the ability to work in a General Hospital environment, respect others’ views and methods, and promote mental health and collaborative working.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills (Voluntary Care Sector, Local Authority, Blue Light services) and commitment to service users and families.
* Understanding of trauma-informed care and commitment to providing equitable service.
* Right to work in the UK; the Trust reserves the right to withdraw sponsorship if visa status changes.

Right to Work

Prior to appointment you will be asked to provide confirmation of your right to work in the UK. You must notify your line manager promptly of any changes to your right-to-work status during employment.

Benefits

* Flexible working arrangements to balance work and home life.
* Increased mileage rates for long journeys (over 3500 miles).
* Health and wellbeing support packages.
* Internal and external development and learning opportunities.
* Defence Employer Recognition Scheme: Bronze Award and Armed Forces pledge.
* BDCFT Green Plan sustainability initiatives and opportunities to participate in quality improvements.
